Community Engagement Core 

The community engagement core is lead by Dr. Lisa Cooper, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity who brings over 20 years of experience in engaging community partners and stakeholders to address health disparities and implement interventions targeting social determinants of health, including hypertension.

Volunteers

Core Activities 

  • Implements validated community-based participatory research principles and practices

  • Established a Community Advisory Board (CAB) comprising community members, local and national stakeholders from various sectors, and project investigators

  • Collaborates with the CAB during protocol, instrument, and intervention development stages, including review, pilot-testing, and feedback

  • Supports research teams in effectively communicating results to participants and communities

  • Tracking and reporting stakeholder engagement, conducting post-meeting surveys for improvement, and providing tools for site-specific community engagement plans
